Duckling Question?

Want To Help?

Even though our sanctuary doesn’t have a central location yet, there are still many ways you can help us.

GiveBeing a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue, we constantly need supplies and food for the ducklings. If you are able to donate items or money to us, it will help us help the babies. Following are some ways you can give monetarily:

Ask For God’s Guidance – God is driving our duckling train, and we need as many people lifting our mission up to him so we can get his clear guidance. He has done amazing things thus far, and all we ask is that he make our path clear. The more people we have asking him for this gift, the better we’ll be able to help our babies.

Duckling Foster Parent – Our foster parents take in ducklings anytime between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. They care for the ducklings for the first three weeks of their lives or longer, depending on the living conditions they can give the ducklings. Once the sanctuary is in a central location, these fosters will care for the ducklings for approximately one to two weeks and will then transfer them to the sanctuary. If you’d like to learn more about our duckling foster parent position, click here.

Duckling Rescue/Transport – Ducklings get rescued all over central Florida. Oftentimes, the folks who find them are willing to take them to the nearest foster parent. There are times, though, when the ducklings need to be caught and/or transported to a foster parent. If you’d like to learn more about this position, please click here.

Forever Family – There will come a day when all of our ducklings will go to the sanctuary to live out the rest of their lives. Until that day comes, however, we are placing our ducklings with wonderful families who will keep and care for them. If you believe you’d like to be a forever family for our ducklings, please click here to learn more.

Fundraising Lead – There are a ton of ways we could raise money for our organization, and we’re looking for someone to head up that process. This person would hold brainstorming and planning sessions and would spearhead any fundraising events that take place. If you have at least three hours each week to dedicate and would be interested in being our fundraising lead, please contact us.

Fundraiser – Would you like to help us raise money to care for the ducks and spread the word about them? Raising money can be done in many ways. If you have ideas of how this can be done, then we’d love to have you on our team. We also would love to have you and your ducks join us at events to show people what amazing animals they are. If you have at least two hours each week to dedicate and would be interested in being on our fundraising team, please contact us.

Grant writer – Grant money is out there, but we won’t get it if we don’t apply for it. Grant writers help us create relationships with those who have money to give, and they take the time to work through the various processes necessary to apply for the grants. They also report on the uses of the money awarded. If you have at least three hours to give each week and would be interested in filling this need, please contact us.

Volunteer coordinator – Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. We’re looking for someone who can help us recruit our volunteers, creating relationships with them to help them enjoy their time with the sanctuary. They would also track the volunteers on a spreadsheet and make sure that all of the proper forms are completed and logged. If possible, our volunteer coordinator would create events for our volunteers to show them the appreciation they deserve. If you have at least three hours to give each week and would be interested in being our volunteer coordinator, please contact us.

Egg collectors– In our effort to limit the Muscovy population, we offer communities the service of searching for the nests of Muscovy mamas and collecting undeveloped eggs from under them when they start sitting on their nests. We have teams of volunteers who visit the communities weekly to scan the properties for nests and remove eggs at the proper times. They also sometimes train members of communities to search for and track the nests. Each egg collector would work in a neighborhood convenient to them, visiting it weekly for enough hours to search the entire property. If the property was large, the egg collector would work with a team of other egg collectors to cover the area. If you have at least two hours each week and would like to be an egg collector, please contact us.

Egg Collection Lead – This person would explain the rescue’s egg collection program to new egg collectors and would be the lead communicator with communities requesting our organization’s egg collection service. They would set up teams and times for each weekly visit and would track the donations that are received for our services. If you have at least three hours to give each week and would be interested in being our volunteer coordinator, please contact us.

Secretary – Our secretarial needs are few but very important. The secretary of the organization would be a board member, attending monthly board meetings and producing meeting minutes. They would also send out correspondence, track event dates on a group calendar, and track all ducks and ducklings that come into our organization on a spreadsheet. If you have at least three hours each week to give and would be interested in being our secretary, please contact us.

Treasurer – Our organization needs a treasurer to track our expenses and help us create a budget for our future. Our treasurer would be a board member, attending monthly board meetings. They would also help us file the necessary reports to help us keep our 501(c)(3) status. If you have at least five hours each week to give and would be interested in being our treasurer, please contact us.

Duckling Wrangler (ON HOLD UNTIL WE GET THE SANCTUARY PROPERTY)  – We get a lot of ducklings, and it can be a lot of work to manage them. As they grow, we find ourselves creating new places for them to live in our fosters’ homes. We also have to bathe them when they’re young and doing so safely with more than five ducklings can be a real feat. Duckling wranglers should come in pairs, because they typically need to help each other set things up and handle the babies. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please click here. (By the way, you don’t have to have a partner already set up when applying for this position. We can match you with another person, and you two can work together.)

Duckling Playmate (ON HOLD UNTIL WE GET THE SANCTUARY PROPERTY) – We try to raise our ducklings to like people, and to make this happen, we try to socialize them as much as possible. Playtime with the babies is an integral part of our ducklings’ care, and we’d love your help in this process. Being a duckling playmate is a commitment, however, so it’s not for everyone. We look for people who are willing to commit to a minimum of three days a week, so the ducklings can get used to them. If you’d like to learn more about this position, please click here.

Nonprofit Business Advisor/CPA – As we grow, we find ourselves in need of formal financial guidance. If you have the knowledge and interest in helping us navigate the ins and outs of nonprofit business planning and management, we’d love to speak with you. Contact Us

Property Explorer – We are in search of the perfect property for our sanctuary. If you have an interest in helping us search for the perfect place, please click here.
